Internal Job Posting Meaning: What Does Internal Job Position Mean

Internal job posting is a job position opened within a company for existing employees to create more new opportunities for them.

In fact, whenever there’s a new job opening in your company, try to post it internally to see whether you have candidates internally who can take up this position or not.

Another thing you’ll need to take care of while posting a new job opening internally is cross-checking the duties that the new hire will have to perform with the team or team manager, you’re hiring them for. That way, you can ensure that only the right candidate fills the position.

How do You Write an Internal Job Posting

Generally, the process will remain the same as if you’d write a regular external job posting except that you can spare the details of the company as they already know it. It’ll help you keep the JD short and concise and include only the necessary information.

You can also use good headlines, subheads, and bullet points for this purpose, if it’s still going a little longer.

Here are some of the essential information you’d want to include in your internal job posting description:

  • Job title
  • Job summary
  • Responsibilities
  • Qualifications
  • Requirements
  • Salary and benefits
  • Other information

What is the Internal Job Posting Policy

Your internal job posting policy can be different based on your company.

You can also use the standard overall job posting policies of your company. Besides that, you would want to include:

  • The guidelines of internal job posting
  • Eligibility criteria for who can apply for the job
  • Process of hiring internally
  • Communication methods
  • Selection procedure
  • Transfer
  • Training procedure

What is IJP Format

You can either post the IJP on your HR wall, for instance, HROne users can make internal announcement on their HR wall for each and every employee to see despite what location they work in. So, tha’s an easy and quick way to do it, and you can simply post it in a heading, subheading, and description format.

Another way to do it is to send every employee of the company an email to announce the newly opened internal job position.

In this case, you’ll obviously have to send it in email format, where you greet everyone and proceed with your message. You can also use the headline, subheading, and description format for it as well.
