Form 24G Meaning
Form 24G is a form that’s filled in by the account officer. The form contains all the information about the tax that has been deducted at source. This information is to be submitted to the Drawing and Disbursement Officer for processing.
These details are often filled in a particular format when the Account Officer is filling the TDS.
Form 24G TDS Means
TDS stands for Tax Deducted at Source, and all the information that form 24G contains is of TDS that the Account Officer has to fill.
Basically, form 24G has TDS information in it.
What are the Components of Form 24G
The form 24G should contain several of the following components:
- It should contain the details of the Account Office
- It should contain the details of the category of the Account Officer
- It should contain the details of the payment that the AO has made for the time period for which they’re filling in the form.
- It should contain the summary of the payments after establishing the period.
- It should contain the information of the Drawing and Disbursement Officer to which the Account Officer is associated with.
What is the Form 24G Due Date and Penalties
The due date of form 24G depends on when you have filled it. If you fill it in March, then the due date for it will be April 30th. But if you fill it in any month between April to February, then it’s deadline will be 15 days before the end of the month in which your tax was deducted.
For example, let’s say your tax was deducted in May, then you’ll need to fill this form by 16th of May, which means the deadline is 15 days from the end of May.
What Is the Form 24G of Income Tax?
The form 24G of income tax is the same form that the Account Officer fills with the information of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and submits it to the Drawing and Disbursement Officer (DDO), so they can process it further from there on.
How Can I Download Form 24G Online?
To download the form 24G online, you can head to www.protead.tinpan.com. This site is given on the official Income Tax India’s web page.
The site will show you a warning that you’re headed to a different website. You approve of it.
Once you’re on the Protean website, continue to the website and navigate to the Download Forms button, which will initiate the download of the form. You can save it on your computer and fill it in accordingly.

How to Fill Form 24G?
To fill out Form 24G, you’ll first need to enter the month when the form is valid for and in the next section, you need to enter your (Account Officer’s) details; here’s what these details will include:
- The Account Identification Number of the Account Officer (AIN)
- Name of the Account Officer
- Phone number of the AO where they can be reached
- AO’s email id which is valid and they’re using
- The PAO registration number.
Once these details are filled in, you’ll head to the next section, where you must fill the details of the person responsible for the TDS. These details would include:
- Their name
- Their designation
- Their postal address
- Their contact information includes their phone number and email address.
In the next section, you indicate the type of statement. Here you show if you have filled another similar form within the same period; if you have then you’ll have to mention that.
After that, you mention the category of the organization which is deducting this tax—either State or Central Government. Then, you enter the State’s name and the ministry that’s deducting the tax. You can also mention the sub ministry in this section, which is responsible for the same tax.
Then you enter all the deductions in the table as per the DDO. The information will include the following information about
- Registration number
- Code
- TAN details
- Name
- Postal address
- Email address
- The amount of Tax that was collected
- Total amount that needs to be remitted to the Government’s account.
Then, you enter the summary of the statement. It will require the following information:
- How many DDOs are involved in it
- How many entries have been made so fare
- Amount of TDS and to be remitted.
How to Upload Form 24G Online?
Once you have filled in this form, just login to the TIN central system. Navigate to the right options from there and upload your form 24G there.
